Once
youšve learned to play, now try this. Go back to some
basic scale and arpeggio exercises and play them with
your eyes closed. The purpose here is to learn to feel
the fingerboard. Feel the shifts. Feel the shapes.
Try
playing one-octave major scales using the cycle of 4ths
as a root motion. Begin each scale on the same string.
Play with no open strings. Use the same fingering for
each scale. KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED. Play slowly with
a consistent tempo.
With
patient and persistent practice you will be surprised
how liberating this will become.
