Double Bass Workout
March 9-11 , 2012

The Double Bass Workout Level 1 is designed to get you practicing the right stuff. Emphasis is placed on correct hand position and developing correct technique for practicing with the bow. Basic scales and arpeggio fingers will be taught. Basic jazz walking lines will be studied.
Topics will include:
Left handTechnique
Arco Technique
Fingerings
The logic of Shifting
Sound Production
Jazz Walking Lines
Reading
Practice Techniques
Transcriptions

Daily schedule:
1 hour sessions, 45 minutes playing and 15 minutes break. Each hour we change topics. Every 2nd or 3rd session will be taught by a specific instructor focusing on his specific area of expertise and choice of material.
We will use two rooms, so we will do entire group sessions and then split up.
The faculty will perform in various combinations at our evening concerts. (maybe some student ensembles as well)
