Low Featuring Lionel Loueke
TWO
LOW Featuring Lionel Loueke is the result of a fruitful
collaboration of highly talented musicians. Rob Gourlay and Jim
Stinnett have performed and taught together for many years. Add
guest artist, Lionel Loueke, and this recording becomes somethingtruly
special. Lionel is the top guitarist on the music scene today.
His current associations, Herbie Hancock, Sting, Wayne Shorter,
and Marcus Miller, attest to his level of musicianship. In his
featured seven tracks, Lionel's African roots are abundantly obvious.
Dom
Moio appears on TWO LOW playing percussion. His ability
to supply a powerful groove with only a few small instruments
is a testament to his deeply developed sense of time. Dom is the
consummate percussionist.
While
still a youth, Grant Stinnett displays empathy and a beautiful
sense of style and grace. His playing on TWO LOW provides
a rich and complimentary voice.
Joe
Hunt's support on Two Low reminds us why he was chosen
to play in the bands of Bill Evans and Stan Getz. Joe's drumming
is as musical and tasteful as it gets.
This
is not your typical bass album. As a matter of fact, this is not
your typical album at all. The music is eclectic and powerful,
yet all the while soothing and easy on the ears. The eleven original
compositions are quite endearing and showcase contemporary bass
styles and techniques at a virtuosic level.

live in the studio, It's About Time features guitar
legend Joe Diorio in all his splendor. Joe has long been known
throughout the jazz world as one of the true innovators and
masters of jazz guitar. With the tape running non-stop for two
full days, all the musicians in close proximity, no over dubs,
and NO rehearsal, the results are nothing less than stunning.
Joe Diorio lays it all out there for us to hear; his beautiful
and sensitive touch, his incredible chord voicings, unbelievable
chops, very deep melodic development, and of course, a swing
feel to die for. As Joe told us, "It's All About Time."
Joe
is supported in this session by drummer Dom Moio and bassist
Jim Stinnett. In recent years, Dom and Jim have developed a
groove and rapport that borders on magic. With very sensitive
ears, this magic brought out the best in Joe.
Joined
by long time friends and students Bill Moio and then Sid Jacobs,
the trio becomes a quartet, and finally a trio again featuring
the three outstanding guitarists.
The
love for music and power of a soul displayed on this recording
is a testament to Joe Diorio's legacy. Joe's influence on all
who hear his playing is profound and long-lasting.

 Afrizona
Afrizona
is a powerful yet beautiful recording featuring Lionel Loueke:
guitar-vocals-bass, Dom Moio: drums, Jim Stinnett: bass, and Rob
Gourlay: bass. In this session the empathy is high and the music
is sweet. A pleasant mixture of original compositions and standards
comprise the tune list.
Lionel
Loueke has quickly established himself as a premier new talent
on the jazz scene today. Lionel has recently been featured on
tours and recordings with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Charlie
Hayden, Terrance Blanchard, as well as his own group.
Dom
Moio is an outstanding musician who happens to play the drum set.
Dom's sensitive and propulsive accompaniment is matched by his
delightful solos throughout the recording.
Splitting
the bass chair, Jim Stinnett and Rob Gourlay both play acoustic
bass, electric bass, melody, bass line, solo, and chordal accompaniment.
The sound of multiple bass tracks lends to an organic sound and
a warm texture. Notice the numerous basses on Conference Of The
Birds.

Friends
"Upon
first hearing the duo recordings from Friends, I
just kept staring at my stereo speakers. The groove was sooo...deep
and the communication between Jim and Lionel so complete! As a
drummer, I wanted to be playing on the tracks, but musically they
already had all the percussion they needed from Lionel and his
guitar. Jim's bass sound, which is rich and round, fills all the
right sonic spaces. His ability to always play just the right
groove is clearly evidenced in this recording. The trio music
is also quite beautiful, as Joe Hunt's playing tastefully compliments
